The story of Evil Queen is pretty funny (if I do say so myself.) One day, while driving through Downtown Los Angeles, my boyfriend and I passed a flower shop called "Basic Flowers". I laughed really hard and said, "Basic flowers, for the basic bitch in your life." Then, like in a cheesy Hollywood film, the lightbulb went off. I knew I had to create something sassy like that. Something that everyone could love. And it just clicked: candles. I had never made a candle in my life before starting Evil Queen. But with a lot of patience and practice, here we are. My wish is to make candles with attitude that you'll have fun gifting to your friends and burning around your house. Life is so serious sometimes. It's good to lighten up.

Evil Queen candles are pretty cool because:

  • They're made with 100% soy wax and fragrances free of harmful chemicals
  • They're handmade and poured in my kitchen in Los Angeles
  • They're vegan and eco-friendly

I grew up in a family that's very health conscious, so, I had to make sure my candles were too. The wax used in the candles is soy wax from American grown soy beans. It's 100% vegan, clean burning, and environmentally friendly. You don't have to worry about any toxins getting all up in your house when you burn one of these candles. I also hand pick the fragrances and blend them to create my own unique scents. The candles should also burn for 50+ hours if you follow the instructions (I'm looking at you, rule breakers).

My name is Ida. I'm a creative little soul who does a million things at once. I founded Evil Queen from the ground up. The labels? Hand lettered and designed by me. The candle names and descriptions? All me. The fragrance choices? Yep, me too. Evil Queen is my baby. And I hope you guys enjoy the candles as much as I've enjoyed making them for you.

As my side hustle, I'm a freelance calligrapher / hand letterer / graphic designer. I'm also a published writer. I wrote a poetry book last year called In My Universe, if you're interested. It's pretty cool, but then again, I'm biased.
